WELCOME TO THE CLAREMONT

WE OPENED THE CLAREMONT over 25 years ago to provide comfortable and affordable accommodation on the Isle of Wight. The guest house is open all year, centrally heated and has ample car parking space and secure cycle storage for you. The lift to the seafront is only a three minute walk away, and the Town Centre, with Rail and Bus links to the whole island is just five minutes.

THERE ARE SO MANY lovely things to see in Shanklin such as the beach and beautiful cliff walks, Keats Green, the Old Village and Shanklin Chine. These too are just a few minutes walk from the Claremont.

ALL OUR BEDROOMS are en-suite and each is equipped with a colour TV, hair dryer and tea making facilities. We have 1 double (on the ground floor) 1 single, 1 twin, and 2 double rooms on the first floor. There is access at all times.

  • Shanklin Old Village

Shanklin Old Village has some beautiful old pubs and restaurants. Many of the buildings are thatched and it’s well worth checking out places like The Crab, The Village Inn and Pencil Cottage.

  • Shanklin Chine

This is a historic gorge {or chine} which runs from upper Shanklin Old Village to the lower Shanklin beach. Waterfalls and unique plants populate this romantic and beautiful ravine. After a gentle descent, the Chine emerges by the Fisherman’s Cottage Pub. What could be better?

  • Shanklin Beach

Broad, welcoming and sun-drenched, Shanklin Beach stretches almost a mile from Luccombe to Sandown. Lined with bars, restaurants and cafes along the Esplanade, it is the perfect place to relax. And so you don’t have to go the long way round, there’s a lift just three minutes walk from the Claremont Guest House.
